Before you launch: a checklist

Everything worth checking before you tell people about your publication, in the order that saves you rework.

You can launch whenever you like: a Blogaly site is live from the moment it’s created. Before you share it widely, run down this list. Most items take a minute or two.

The basics

  • Your site has its real title and description, not the site name it started with. How
  • You’ve added a publication icon and, if you have one, a logo. How
  • Your time zone and language are right. How
  • The social accounts in Settings are yours, or empty. How
  • The About page is written and the sample Coming soon post is gone or replaced. How

Your content

  • There are at least two or three posts, so first-time visitors see what you write about. Write a post
  • If you’re moving from another platform, your posts and subscribers are imported. Import
  • Your header menu links to the pages readers need. Navigation
  • Posts have tags, and the tag pages look right. Tags

Readers and email

  • The Access settings match how open you want to be. Access
  • You’ve signed up to your own site with a personal address, to see the signup form and welcome email as readers do. Signup
  • Your newsletter has a name, a sender name and a reply-to address you read. Newsletters
  • You’ve sent yourself a test email and read it on your phone. Send a post by email

Your address

  • If you’re using your own domain, it shows Connected in your dashboard and your site loads at it with the padlock in the address bar. Custom domain
  • Your old site, if you had one, redirects to the new addresses so links and search rankings carry over. Redirects

If you’re charging

  • Stripe is connected (Publisher and Business plans). Connect Stripe
  • Your tiers have clear names, prices and benefits. Tiers
  • You’ve tested the checkout from a reader’s point of view. Payments

Your Blogaly account

  • You’ve added a payment method before your 14-day trial ends, so your site isn’t paused. Billing
  • Your plan covers what you need: members, staff, newsletters and paid tiers. Plans
  • Anyone helping you has their own staff account rather than your password. Staff
